What you will experience
Exposed schist and the mining setting give this Arouca canyon its identity. The route links the footpath between Rio de Frades and Cabreiros with the access area of the mine tunnel.
Along the route
The descent alternates drops, scrambling and pool crossings. Progression options include abseiling, guided abseiling and jumps, according to each obstacle and the technical assessment. The described exit follows the bank and the former mine tunnel, ending with a short walk.
Included equipment & guiding
Neoprene suit and socks, helmet, harness and descender for technical progression. The proposal identifies waterproof equipment used to support the route.

The route has a technical component and deep pools. Each participant's experience and ability should guide manoeuvres; not every obstacle is optional.
